Document Summary

Explain how camkii remembers a previous calcium signal. Once activated, the pdgf receptor recruits a number of downstream signaling proteins to multiple phospho-tyr sites on the receptor. Sh2 interaction domain has 2 binding sites. One recognizes the phospho-tyr site and the other binds to an adjacent amino acid. Ras is a protein that resembles the alpha subunit of heterotrimeric g proteins. Membrane tethered protein - tethered by lipid anchor. Activity is regulated by gefs and gaps. Gefs - gtp/gdp exchange factor - promotes active state of gtp. Rtks drives ras into an active state. Ras - if overexpressed you can promote cancer development. Each is made up of 8 photoreceptor cells - r1 to r8. The development of these cells requires ras signaling. R8 develops first and instructs development of other cells. R7 development - sevenless mutation affecting receptor tyrosine kinase. Sev interacts with ligand expressed on r8.
