Dimitri ivanowski (1892: showed that the thing that causes the tobacco mosaic disease can pass through porcelain filters. Martinus beijerinick (1898-1900: pretty much showcased that the tobacco mosaic disease still occurred after the filter passage, called these things filterable viruses (shortened to virus) Ellerman and bang (1908: showed that leukemia in chickens was caused by a virus. Virus: genetic element with nucleic acid that alternates between intercellular and extracellular states.
