BIO380H5 Lecture 7: Lecture 7-10 Notes
Document Summary
Lecture 7-10 notes formation of germ layers and early derivatives (pg 75-90) chapter. In an inductive interaction, one tissue (the inductor) acts on another (responding tissue) so that the developmental course of the latter is different from what it would have been in the absence of the inductor. Both nanog and gata 6 expressing cells mixed: beginning of implantation at 6 days. Loss of specific cell adhesion molecules e- cadherin as the cells converts from an epithelial to a mesenchymal configuration. This transformation is correlated with the expression of the transcription factor snail: cells will now express n-cadherin which help the cell spreading through the primitive streak, the production of hyaluronic acid by the epiblast. Stimulates the formation of the neural tissue and vertebral bodies and dorsal pancreas: precordial plate: small aggregation of mesodermal cells anterior to the notocord stimulates the formation of the forebrain, oropharyngeal membrane: represents the future oral cavity.
