Document Summary

The ph meters in the first-year chemistry lab have reached the end of their lifetime and need to be replaced. We request for the purchase of new ph meters, as they serve useful not only in teaching students in chemistry labs, but have a variety of applications that are practiced by biologists and chemists around the world. Ph meters serve a purpose in labs where experiments such as titrations are conducted. Titrations allow us to find the concentration of an unknown solution, or find the identity of an unknown acid. We are able to do this since the ph meter measures of the change in ph of a solution the titrant is added to the analyte. When studying the environment in a biological perspective, it is important to monitor the ph when studying water. A change in ph of water can affect marine animals and can also indicate an increase in pollution as well as other environmental factors.
