Document Summary

The two kinds of analysis essential to experimental chemistry are qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. In this experiment, we will be performing standard tests for the qualitative analysis of some cations. In this experiment, three standard testes were carried out one after another using products obtained from the previous step. To confirm whether the unknown solution contains cations present in the known solution, precipitation formed in the unknown solution would have to match with the ones obtained in the known solution. First test was dedicated to test for the presence of pb+2. The results were both of the known and the unknown solutions appeared to be clear with formation of white precipitate, which according to what"s stated above, this indicated the presence of pb+2(aq) in the unknown solution. The second test was testing for the presence of fe+3(aq).
