Document Summary

The auteur of a film is defined by the distinctive style that is portrayed consistently through each of the auteurs work (nichols 151). This is often done through the implementation of a recurring ideology throughout the work for the subtle purpose of expressing the personal experiences of the auteur. Wes anderson is a well-renowned auteur that uses his own distinct style to illustrate a particular ideology throughout all of his works. This is especially prevalent in his films the. Grand budapest hotel (2014), the darjeeling limited (2007), and fantastic mr. fox (2009), whereby the ensemble casts and mise-en-scene is necessarily imbricated in the expression and exploration of a patriarchal figure. The main features that differentiate wes anderson"s films from the work of other auteurs is his meticulous use of the stylistic element of mise-en-sc ne and the narrative theme of ensemble casts. Mise-en-sc ne is defined as the arrangement of what appears in front of the camera (nichols 506).
