What drives innovaion is the struggle over how we get to use the internet and technology. It"s oten pirates who had the biggest breakthroughs of technology and innovaion (even back to the 16 th century- on the sea). Innovaion & struggle communicaion used to consolidate power. The braich aricle suggests that poliical struggle produces new kinds of innovaion, bc people who don"t have power have to come up with ways to equalize the asymmetrical use of technology and get what they don"t have and want. Economic inequality protests has been an important and hot topics over the past few years (ex. Occupy movements & the g8 and g20 summit protests) One of the things madison were doing was providing people with info on where to go to get food and water and treat any medical issues if they were taking part in the protest. Historically the state had a monopoly on tacical media.
