ENG100H5 Lecture 3: 4. The Writing Process
Document Summary
Tell your own anecdote about positive or negative discrimination you"ve experienced or witnessed. This can take any form: discrimination in terms of looks, ability, culture, language, religion, race, gender, age, sexuality, socioeconomic status, whatever the case. Then i want you to draw a lesson or idea from the experience. Use writing/sketching/mapping as a means of coming up with an anecdote to talk about. Write down as many details/feelings you remember: outline. Use point-form to sketch out a rough plan of attack: 1:00-1:10pm: ten minute break: first draft/free write. Try to just keep writing for the full fifteen minutes, without pausing too much to think. Now i want you to run through your first draft, and: Fill in the blanks and gaps you left the first time. Cross out any repetitive or unnecessary sentences. Hear where the natural pauses fall, and edit your comma usage accordingly. Break up longer sentences for clarity, and fill out sentences that are too short.
