Document Summary
The environment in which an organism lives and functions. An organism"s use of resources and its functional role in a community. If you lived by yourself, you could do whatever you want. A subset of fundamental niche due to species interactions. If you had a roommate, there are some rules you gotta follow. Broad niches that can use a wide array of habitats and resources. One isn"t effected, the other receives a negative effect. Intraspecific (same species) competition, interspecific (other species) competition. Multiple organisms seek the same limited resources. Species divide shared resources by specializing in different ways. Two or more species benefit from their interactions. The flower and the bee benefit from pollination. One participant benefits, the other does not. Predation = individuals capture, kill, and consume other individuals. Parasitism = parasite depends on host for nourishment or other benefit. Uses the host for nourishment, then kills the host. Herbivory = animals feed on the tissues of plants.
