Environmental policies/practices need to be defined by various organizations
Culturally/philosophically - fraile, nice to have, etc.
Environmental Bill of Rights

Who is responsible and affected?
How do we set priorities, create policies, and handle conflicting agendas?
A lot of current issues relate to environmental issues
How We Relate to Environment?
We all relate differently
Philosophical - how do we value it
Cultural - connect to natural environment, i.e. indigenous people
Religious/spiritual - i.e. environmental stewardship
Aesthetic
Emotional
Reflected in artwork
Ex. Pastural - nature exist to support human life, nature is nurturer - provides for
humans, sees nature as something benin
Ex. Human elements removed - colour, shapes - something beautiful to
contemplate
Ex. Something contemplative. Humans are dwarfed (small) in comparison to size
of nature = power of nature to wipe us out
Environmental issues is inherently interdisciplinary
Knowledge is greater than “sum of the parts”
Science and How it Works
A systematic process for learning about the world and testing our understanding of it
