Environment: more than just water, land and air is the sum total of our surroundings includes: biotic-living, and abiotic-nonliving things. Abiotic: continents, oceans, clouds, rivers, icecaps biotic: animals, plants, forest, soils, people that occupy the landscapes. Environment: it concerns everyone, not just animals and non-living things. Must include legal, social, economic and environmental aspects. Environment canada: to preserve and enhance quality of canada"s natural environment, conserve renewable resources, protect water resources. All forms of relations (ethics, government) play a role in managing environment. Environment science: explores interactions of human with their physical/biological world: we depend on environment for air, water, food, shelter. Our actions cause modifications to it (good or bad). Good: better health, life spans, wealth, and mobility. Env sci: study of how the natural world works, how we affect our environment, how environment affects us. We are now trying to undo damage, use new methods to conserve environment.
