Document Summary

Dynamic equilibrium: systems are constantly changing, interacting, balancing. > things are moving around, energy comes in and it drives processes. matter can change form even. > there is some kind of balance but it"s always changing and things are affecting each other. Homeostasis: many systems tend to maintain stable internal conditions ( = resistance) > root of the word stationary and homeo means same, thus it has the tendency to maintain the same state. > this system has a property that makes it want to return to a stable condition, which is relevant to resistance. > resistance is for example trying to push a person but they resist the push and they stayed in their stable position. > resilience on the other hand, is if the person moved when someone gave them a push. Resilience: some systems (but not all) recover easily from disturbances. > forest affected by resilience would recover even if pests and other things may disturb them.
