Document Summary

Effusive (to pour out) the type of volcanoes in hawaii, they are not very dangerous. Explosive the type of volcano you don"t want to be close to. High viscosity doesn"t flow like water, sticky. Low viscosity flows like water, thin runny lava. Layers of basalt to make up the volcano. The lava flows out very flat, flows wherever it can (low viscosity) Pohoehoe lava looks like thick ropey bands, very smooth. A"a" lava very sharp and chunky lava. The 2 lavas have the same composition however the temperature of them makes different. Lava fountains continues eruption of lava and the 2 rocks that can be obtained are lapilli (low viscosity with gas in it) and pele"s hair (wind causes the rock to cool very finely) Strato eruptive, small volcanoes and more pointed. Layers of lava flow and ash deposits. The ash provides a lot of nutrients for the soil.
