Canada was discovered by french in 1535. Jacques cartier came by boat near montreal. Greeted by a village when he arrived. The village was there before he arrived. 1535, stands out as decisive date where things shift in terms of canada as growing nation. Moment where scholars look at the beginning of history. Comes with complication when we study canadian art. History starting in 1535 mean or implies that history begins in this nations when europeans come here, says that there is no barging before, history is fundamentally euro centric.
