Document Summary
Allow the viewer to see a large area of the scene at eye level. Document the condition and layout of the scene as found. Typically shot from the four corners on the crime scene. Establish the position of the evidence in the scene with its relationship to other items. Allow the viewer to see all evident detail on the item of evidence. Should be close and fill the frame with evid itself. Show crime scene prior to contamination or manipulation by the photographer or crime scene personnel. Scale allows for a 1:1 ratio reproduction of the photograph. Photo logs : standardized forms that catalog the photos taken at a crime scene. Simplest way to represent scene and captures relationships. Locations relationships of objects and evid at the scene. Overhead view (birds eye) or side view (elevation) Done on scene after photography before anything is moved. Not drawn to scale but measurements and distance between objects are recorded.
