FSC239Y5 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: W. M. Keck Observatory, Peel Regional Police, Bloodstain Pattern Analysis
Document Summary
Lecture 3: guest lecturer - constable clayton asano. 8 months working ident, worked 12 division mississauga before that. 26 total ident officers, plus 8 civilian hires. It is the policy of this service to provide technical support, to aid members in the collection, preservation, analysis, and presentation of physical evidence. These people are the initial technicians present at a crime scene. Being thorough is vital for every stage of the investigation. A photograph is useless without its surrounding context. Three photographs of a piece of evidence is a minimum, including an overall shot, a mid- range shot, and a close-up shot (with and without scale). Placards provide loopholes, in that sense, as they do cover up anything that may possibly lie underneath. Addresses are important, photograph where you are. Studio photography occurs after evidence has been moved from the scene to the copy stand to gather details of the items.
