Technique governed by the area that has to be searched. Try and keep evidence in its original condition. Be mindful of bacterial growth on moist items, oxidation on metal items. Labelling of evidence/packaging: case number, item number, date and time of collection, name of collector, description of item, location. Standard/reference (ex. hair, blood, buccal swab, paint from a car in hit and run) Examination of physical evidence is done for identi cation/comparison purposes.
