Superficial layer contains no blood vessels, so usually no bleeding. Tear in the skin, a blunt force injury. Sharp force will create a smooth cut: blunt facial trauma, fractures, fall vs. Blunt trauma to face over areas of bony prominences like nose and back of head. Blunt trauma to face is more widespread with extensive bruising: descent from height (blunt force trauma) Distribution of trauma is dependent on the position of impact and secondary impact sites. Impact of an instrument on the skin causing a distinctive pattern or impression. Generally a combination of abrasions and contusions. Dicing: safety glass causes it , side door glass in all passenger vehicles (irregular spotted pattern) Defined as a wound that is deeper into the body than it is long on the skin.
