Document Summary
Chemistry of fire fire triangle o fuel o ignition: oxygen, material used to speed up and/or start fire accelerant. Any fuel that is used to start, spread, or increase intensity of fire. Gasoline: varsol, bbq starter fluid, diesel, fuel oil. Lowest temperature an ignitable substance must reach to cause self- sustained combustion: gas and fuel oil have different flashpoints. Lowest temperature at which an ignitable liquid produces sufficient vapours to support a momentary flame: amount of fuel, cigarettes. Possible to have too much (rich) or too little (lean) fuel: range in between known as flammable or explosive range, upper flammable limit, lower flammable limit, are not able to ignite most ignitable liquids and gases.
