The most serious sources of risk to this country consists of water related hazards such as floods, caused by tsunamis or other reasons. Earthquakes play a major role in hazards and exposure as well, which is the greatest component of the inform risk index for indonesia. This country is made up of many islands, each surrounded by bodies of water. Australian plate in the west, eurasian plate in the north and then the philippines plate in the east. This increases the vulnerability of the large population to hazards. The number one type of natural disaster that contributes to mortality and great economic impacts is earthquakes. The gni ppp of indonesia is less than the rest of the world but not by a huge difference. Additionally, the life expectancy of indonesians on average is 71 years at birth. It is the same as that of the world.
