In november 2000, the liberals under chr tien won their third consecutive majority. 2004 federal elections - paul martin calls for a general election after a year of being elected. Liberals took a major dip, but they won the majority. Paul martin won the confidence of the house and stayed on as pm. The fall of the liberals - harped moved a formal non-confidence motion and won the votes. Martin requested an election for january 23, 2006. (winter is bad for elections) The 2006 election - conservatives became the largest party in the house. What have we learned - when a party wins over 50% of all the seats, it forms a majority government.
