Aim to justify, contest, or change the social and political processes of a community. Divides ideologies into 2 views: pejorative (against) and ideological morphology. Apter said ideologies bind the community together: by sharing values/ ideas/ideals. Ideologies are ubiquitous forms of political thinking: relect varieties of thoughts, perceptions and misperceptions regarding the existing or imagined world. Bell says the most important latent function of ideology is to tap emotion: see what people really value and want in society.
