New principalities: on virtu, fortune, and crime: there can be hereditary principalities or new principalities or totally new principalities, he wants to explain what this means (what type of principality will dictate certain actions). He funnels all actions into new principality: order comes from chaos. You are creating something new from chaos: the prince is a study of the new price. You might have bad luck that you didn"t see coming. The prince needs to rely on action not time: the new prince needs extraordinary talent, virtue, etc, it all depends on how you came to power. A new prince can come to power with extraordinary virtu (nothing else), good luck, or crime: the two are not mutually exclusive (fortuna and virtu). On the one hand, the prince creates order through virtu, on the other you might have contingencies that create bad luck in your making.
