Document Summary

Divided into 2 parts: part 1: is theory-the main theories of international relations. Part 2: issues orientated- changes from year to year. : the theory helps to understand the big picture, how different issues may or may not relate to one another, looks for connections. It also helps us understand what facts we should care about, and things that are not facts that are subjective. Lastly, what things are worth studying, what issues might not be relevant to our understanding of international relations. : a logically coherently combine three things: descriptive element, analytical element and a normative (prescriptive) element. Post positivists: our internal biases and prejudices, not only do they shape what we see in the world, but these biases and prejudices are more important in understanding what is going on in the world. Preconceived notions, that is where the real power is.
