They were sieged, put to death, and children sold for slavery: this is an example of power being used against others for personal benefit. Theorist machiavelli: theorist machiavelli seeks the effectual truth of the matter rather than the imagined one. The holy roman empire: the thirty years war: religious conflict that began in the fragmented lands of the holy roman empire and quickly engulfed most western europe. Done not because of religious reasons but for power. The reason for international relations is because european states gained power and they end up dominating the world and international system: they start owning great parts of the world. Immanuel kant: says it doesn"t have to be that way.
