A consolidated democracy is a democracy that is the only game in town, there is no reasonable alternative except for democracy for both the government and the people. When the economy is good, only half of brazilians nd democracy is the best form of government, so there is a large segment of the population that do not like this system. 35% of brazilians were in favour of a military coup, and a year ago, there was open discussion about a military coup existing in brazil. Many brazilians nd that the military is the most trusted institution (but there was the same level of corruption but the media was strongly regulated so they didn"t know this). Jair bolsonaro was the new president and seen as brazil"s tropical trump. He was then later a distant second to lula in the recent election but lula was sentenced 10 years in prison for corruption. Lula was very recently freed but still not in power.
