Document Summary

Negative ad definition in textbook: when one office seeker attacks another office seeker. Based on that template the examples he gave are 2 negative ads against justin trudeau by the conservatives. And what are they trying to do with it: they are trying to use these ads to influence the standards people have for future leaders/candidates. Priming: they are targeting older people (mostly, lately the conservative polls have gone down and liberals have gone up. Therefore, the conservatives have been trying to target conditional/soft conservative voters who voted conservative last time and now are liberal to come back to conservative by proving trudeau is not up to the job. The next easiest thing is to reinforce a weakly-held view: ex: if you talk to a group who doesn"t really believe in the liberals it helps them drop the liberals after seeing the ads.
