Document Summary

Started by saying that individual organisms belong to a species: felix is a cat and he"s striped. Cat and striped are properties of felix that he shares with. He also said that properties are eternal: striped and cat never cease to exist even if no one whose striped exists. Extinction showed that types could vanish (not first found out by darwin) What darwin wanted was to find out about the origin of species. Tyranosaurus went extinct, meaning it ceases to exist: darwin explain that species are populations and not properties. Eg: felix has properties but he belongs to a certain population, which can go extinct. It"s a change in the proportions of types in population (that compete for the same resource: where the type is heritable. Eg: humans became taller this was cause of better nutrition. Better nutrition is not heritable thus this is not evolution. It was known but it was not explainable.
