Two or more people, for longer than a few moments, interact with and influence one another, and perceive one another as us Define who we are (ie. self-concept and identity) Usually have between 2 and 6 members: large numbers decreases interaction between members. Members tend to be alike in terms of age, sex, beliefs and opinions: many groups attract people who are similar, groups operate in ways that encourage similarity (ie. promote conformity) Group cohesiveness- qualities of a group that bind members together and promote liking among them: but concern with maintaining good relations may impair ability to make good decisions.
