In dsm-iv need to have negative affect for. Dsm-iv had different sub-types of schizophrenia dsm-v does not. Reorganization of disorders: catatonic, paranoid, undifferentiated. Rationale: most people were diagnosed as undifferentiated (they showed symptoms of all other types) Some people show more positive symptoms (delusions and hallucinations) while others show more negative symptoms (adaptive behaviors)
