Fear is a more primitive emotion and occurs in response to a real or perceived current threat. From an evolutionary perspective, fear is an important because of the response it elicits. (helps us survive predators) The behavioural response known as fight or flight response, so named because fear either prompts a person to stay an fight or to run away from a dangerous situation.
