Validity and reliability of dsm4 was not so good: ideniied abnormal behaviours and categorized them, missed and included non-abnormal behaviours. Goal of dsm5 was to make it staisical -> unable to do that because human behaviour is not always predictable. New learning disorders and auisim spectrum disorder : don"t only occur in childhood someimes are lifelong disorders. New category addicion and related disorder : acknowledgement that you can be addicted to things other than drugs. Hoarding now included in dsm 5: collecing materials not useful but can"t let go of them, therapy: looding, hoarders are very resistant to it. New suicide scales (included in dsm 5: controversial right now, decriminalized in canada about 50 years ago. Risk syndromes category: disorders that put you at risk for other disorders.
