Document Summary

How we recognize any object we see or hear is pattern recognition. Whatever you see or hear, the eyes or ears send it to your brain to check if that object is already stored in your long time memory. Pattern recognition is very flexible and so as long as the letter a is stored in our ltm we will be able to recognize it even if looks different, due to the flexibly of our mind. A holistic model is one in which we take the pattern, match it with the stored information in our long. If it"s the sa(cid:373)e the(cid:374) (cid:272)o(cid:374)ti(cid:374)ue: template model, prototype model. Template matching models take it from the retina and compare everything stored in your long term memory. They find the one that has the best match. It is inefficient for humans because we would have to store a lot of stuff and just the different types of a will take up a lot of space.
