PSY290H5 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Globus Pallidus, Neural Tube, Stroke
Document Summary
Unique deficit in recognizing an object (face, entity) ^ damage causes a person to be incapable of linking faces and names damage in fusiform. Thalamus relays sensory information throughout the brain. Each half our brain has a thalamus, allows us to understand what is happening around us on either side. The left hemisphere has a thalamus to understand the right side of the body and everything around it, same goes for the right hemisphere. Different kinds of memories are stored in different regions of the brain. (hippocampus, frontal cortex, basal ganglia, thalamus) Hippocampus: stores long term info, long term memory. ^ place cells in the hippocampus are triggered when u r in a particular place- theory. Experiment- used calcium imaging in mice who are on a mouse treadmill. Building blocks of memories seen in brains for the 1s t time captures a neuronal image as a memory is created.
