Vladimir bekhterev- realised that the structures of the medial temporal lobe was unusually soft and thought it was a very specific effect on the brain in that area. William scoville saw a profound memory loss in 2 people that were treated for diffenent reasons but in the same area(medial temporal lobe) H. m had sever seizures prior to the surgery, this is why he went underwent surgery. Removed parts of the medial temporal lobe ( the hippocampus and the amygdala) which later caused memory loss and emotional problems.
