Extraversion and happiness: we want to see whether there is a temporal precedence use cross lagged model and it shows that extraversion does precede happiness. Elements of an experiment: manipulation- what you do to a variable, control- getting rid of errors random assignments, making sure every session looks same- increases reliability of results. Varied how much money they could get per question- expect that as amt of money increased then they would cheat more. But actually a lot of people cheated but just a little bit. They were not forced by these economic rationales. So maybe we still want to feel good about ourselves personal fudge factor. Also prepaid people- then asked them to pay back the money they didn"t. Example study- pasta study: do people eat more calories when bowl is bigger, you don"t always need a control group but do need a comparison group.
