Social contexts: other people contribute to cognitive development, people won"t develop cognitively unless they have exposure to other people. Zone of proximal development: tasks child cannot do a task alone but can learn with help of more skilled partners. Not just adults, other children as well (social interaction) They take what they know and they build on it (build on knowledge you already have) by help with other people. Piaget & vygotsky"s theories are not opposite, but rather complimentary. Piaget"s cognitive observational learning: 4 stages of cognitive development.
