Intro: memories from childhood might not be accurate, the way you interpret information is based on schemas, the memories we have may not be accurate, even the ones into development, therefore, testimonies may not be accurate as well. Memory processes system: encoding: transforming information into a form that can be entered and retained in the memory, ltm are encoded, and then built into schemas, there are schemas that are attached to each other: Ex: if i say dog , you think of bark , or pet, furry, tail : we encode information early on. Storage: retaining information in memory so that it can be used at a later time: ex: what is the capital of newfoundland? answer: st. From childhood, you may remember events that happened in childhood that may have not occurred. Even in adulthood, we may remember events that may have not occurred: encoding, storage, retrieval we are mostly talking about ltm memories here.
