Document Summary

Maximal inclusion others seek us out and go out of their way to interact with us. Active inclusion others welcome us but don"t seek us out. Ambivalence others don"t care whether we are included or not. Passive exclusion others ignore us but don"t avoid us. Active exclusion others avoid us, tolerating presence when necessary. Maximal exclusion others banish us, send us away, or abandon us. *********our perceptions on how we think overs view us. Acceptance vs rejection falls on a spectrum. Difference bw maximal inclusion vs active inclusion not as much as passive inclusion vs ambivalence: makes sense from evolutionary pov bc the more accepted you are, the better our survival value. If feel excluded, will change behaviour to become accepted. Apparent decreases in others" regard for us. Whether we think someone is losing someone"s regard for them will affect how you react cognitively, emotionally, or behaviorally. Depends on levels of acceptance and/or rejection.
