Cleckley deines psychopath in 1941 is very similar to today"s deiniion, which includes emoional, interpersonal and behavioral elements. Dsm-1 (1952) argued that cleckley"s social aspect of the deiniion was not suiciently apparent, so renamed psychopathy as sociopathic personality disturbance. Dsm-3 and dsm-4 renamed psychopathy as anisocial personality disorder. Dsm deiniion greatly based on behavior, instead of afecive and interpersonal features, which are very important to the descripion of the psychopath. Hare"s conceptualizaion of the psychopath is more in line with the original deiniions and is the standard today. o. The sociopath is an ani-society individual who has an orientaion, such that he or she does not adhere to societal rules but sill may have a conscience of some sort. Each item relects a diferent symptom or characterisic of psychopathy. The items are rated on a 3-pont scale. The items are rated on the basis of the person"s lifeime funcioning, not solely on the basis of the person"s present state.
