rates have many different figures depending on the type of disability
Lack of employment is a big problem for people with disabilities
Lack of social opportunities, general problem is that fiedships do’t happe eough ased
upon similarity, couples date people that are like them so if your gorgeous you date someone
gorgeous too.
Poety/elfae ile = if they a get jos they do’t us they get ods hih is alost the
same, also some may not be able to get a good job
Depression is a consequence, people have attempted to comit suicide when they were

The issue is hat they ae eig paid fo, issue is’t oly the uality of seies,
Sometimes the public creates these services
Consumer based modle: pricate arrangement you purchase services on your own and the
government gives the person money could do what they want with the money and do w.e they
want to with it.
o PUBLIC
o Pros: equality, everything gets the same for public , key pro is that we are looking at
accesability for everybody
o Cons: key disadvantage is that there is never enough money and always long waitlists to
get into the public system, problem is because these workers are usually unionized. So
in a union its not good because their service might not be good
o CONSUMER BASED
o Pros: you can pick what you want to do, so parents can do whats best for their children
like getting two kids with the same diability that knw eachother a condo where the
parents can help
o Cons: those who have money can get services ad those ho do’t hae uh oey
may not get access to the same resources
Long term group home: staff lives with them who could be a undergraduate degree and what
not, they will run the household and help the people get to where they need to, they make sure
the residents have good hygene so they are sort of parents or guardians, group homes around a
particular theme, so lik age disability or race or ethnicity or religion the hope is that there should
be a cohesion between the individuals to feel like family. It is a great system so people can live
in the community, it has to be run properly and should have a supportive neighbourhood and a
suppotie eioet ad soeties a eighouhood is ot oopeatie, eause they do’t
want their property value to go down or neighbours odnt want their kidsaround those people
and shifts changing for the people that take care of them so a risk is that this could be an
isolated system.
Long term foster care: advantage: more supportive than a group home, you have consistency, it
is a family environment, it has the potential to work well when it Is done right and it is done
write at times, ofc the flip side is it may not be done well so the family gets extra money to take
care of the child and many people are very nice and they get financial compensation to help the
idiidual ad if this is patied like this. But thee ae soe people that do’t at to ok
and take in kids just to get the benefits of financial reasons and they tend to not work out well
because the risk is the family will use the money for their own use. If The foster parent believes
that the hild does’t elog i the faily ad they do’t at the the the kids feel that,
they a tell you do’t at the.
Community based apartments with support. So it wont be a high rise, it may be only smart
aparetment, 10 aparetments 2 sotires probably and then you 1 or 2 individual that lives in each
apartment and the help is always there, different level of support can be provided for different
individuals. If the transit trains are there and help is there and its clean it could work and the
people should have day plans. No model is better than the other.
