Document Summary
Disability: the resulting experience coming from the consequence of impairment. Most people are in the middle distribution range and few are above or lower than the average. For the most part, exceptional is usually the ones above and beyond the average, they are better than the rest of the population. Being exceptional has a positive connotation, but being exceptional, is that it is an exception to the general rule. There should be no value-judgement when talking about exceptionality. Social isolation, people with disabilities were isolated, the first records come from the old testament and predates christianity, some of the first attempts to have social justice come from there. The notion that society includes people who ae vulnerable is mentioned and should be responsible to take care of these people of need as well as people with disabilities. There is the sense of pity, not inclusion and that the individuals are equal. People with disabilities could not participate in religious life.
