Why are there two sexes: some animal species have the potential to have more than two biological sexes. Asexual reproduction: parthenogenesis mitosis (duplication of cells) Some species get by with out sex: whiptail lizard, certain geckos, a parthenogentic species should be able to double their offspring. So why reproduce sexually: there is some reason why majority of species reproduce sexually, muller"s rachet. Theory #2: beneficial gene combinations generated (red queen hypothesis: you are not going anywhere but you are constantly changing to stay where you are. If we develop of a different lock then the parasite key will not be able to infect it, it will then have to change their key to infect the host.
