Document Summary
Biological rythms ter a-feira, 8 de dezembro de 2015. Even though the rhythm comes from within, it adjusts to external environment, can be entrained: rythms can be entrained according to environmental cues like dark/light, social cues, temperature, exercise, etc. ). They are manipulable and can be used in labs for experiments. Measuring rhythms: in rats, the rhythm can be measured using a running wheel and recording the activity on a chart recorder. Each wheel rotation is plotted as a tick: there are devices that can measure activity and rhythms in humans. Graphic: biorhythms can change their phase. In the graphic we see a shift from activity in the dark to the light period: animals endogenous rhythm is longer than a day in the absence of external cues. This is an evidence that biological rhythms depend on both endogenous and exogenous factors, since the length of more than 24h doesn"t simply re ect the rotation of earth.
