Document Summary
Composed of a central nucleus surrounded by a cell body. Synapse is where neurons connect with one another. Glass microelectrodes are so sharp that it can penetrate the neuron. Cerebellum is responsible for coordinating motor functions. Purkinje cells are found in the cerebellum: fine motor coordination requires integration of many nerve cells (in terms of what your body is going to do) This type of neuron is found in the cortex, and is a class association neuron that forms a large part of the grey matter in the cortex. These neurons do not span long distances, but connects local circuits. Synapse is capable of undergoing various changes, based on the types of connections it receives. It is capable of strengthening or weakening a signal: weakened synapse makes it less likely that one neuron will go from one synapse to the next. Ions are electrically charged atoms (sodium, potassium, chloride which are positively, negative, and negatively charged respectively)
