Exceptionality refers to both ends of the spectrum exception to the rule and far away from the rule. General education is designed around the average child. Gifted child is weak, socially inept, narrow in interests and emotionally unstable. Gifted child is superior in every way intelligence, physique, sociability. A child that is gifted in math and science is not always also gifted in reading and writings. They are expected to be perfect when they are not problematic. We should note that this is a misconception of what the gifted child is because it is wrong to assume that this is the norm and 99. 9% of kids could live up to this. Eight great grips of gifted kids: no one explains what being gifted is all about its kept as a secret. Multiplication tables are redundant and they get bored: parents, teachers and friends expect us to be perfect and expect us to do our best all the time.
