Society is made up of people, culture is made up of ideas, behaviours and material possessions. Socialization is a way to pass on culture. Culture is: shared, learned, taken for granted: there is no such thing as the correct way to live. The main idea is that it is a tool kit, we develop cultures to survive, and we act in certain ways because they encouraged our survival: symbolic, varies across time and place. Symbols: languages and signifiers, math is also a type of language.
