Document Summary
Sociology- the study of society and human behaviour in a social context. Sociological perspective- a bread perspective of the strange in the familiar. Connecting the individual to social structure, the life of an individual to society. The common answer is anyone who works hard. Students with parents with uni education have a higher chance of getting in than those without. Depression, loneliness, escape, lack of support etc. 1800s durkheim discovered it was not due to psychological reasons which people took their lives, and actually this was inversely related- people with mental health problems were less likely to commit suicide. Proved it was tied to social structure and social forces. Suicide rates varied upon degree of social solidarity (degree in which one shares common thought with the mass)
