Agents of socialization: primary socialization, mastering basic skills required for society, family, secondary socialization, outside of family, education, peers, media. Issue: violent video games in japan more widely played but crime rate is much lower. Issue: crime was much higher in the past than it is now: violent video games can increase aggression and have short term effects but very little long-term effects. But nowhere near as effective as a total institution.
