Socialization: it is the process by which people learn culture, roles, behavior expected of a person occupying a certain position in society, identity, unleashing human potential, without socialization, humans cannot release full potential. Formation of self: a sense of individual identity, in relation to others, it is a lifelong process, importance of early socialization; it can shape one"s future, it is so important that one"s future can be ruined without it. Gender: learning femininity and masculinity, gender sense of self, socialization of different standards. Civilization: social and political systems (ancient china vs. Agents of socialization: primary socialization, parents know the rules therefore they teach kids how to learn (family) them too, secondary socialization (education, peers, media) 2: self fulfilling prophecy; if a teacher believes a student will not do well in class then the child most likely will.
